AS DARKNESS CASTS ITS VEIL
Lying in my room
I feel reality fade
Bound, deaf, dumb and blind again
To face another day
The me inside the mirror
He laughs at what he sees
I remain as he outgrows
They boy we used to be
Lost another job
Second one this week
Living on the edge my friend
And the future’s looking bleak
Dreams of Darkness
They wake me in the night
Lying in the shadows
Waiting for the light
Confused of my existence
I cannot understand
Dreams crumble into nothing
When I hold them in my hand
And tonight, As darkness casts its veil
Crying out, To a world of pain
But it’s too late, As Darkness twists my soul
Crying out, but no one hears my call
Over-bored again
Clawing at the walls
Madness settles in
And begins to take its toll
A scavenger of dreams
Has taken out my trash
The hopes and expectations
I couldn’t get to last
So here I lie alone
Waiting for the end
Covered by the Darkness
And death’s my only friend

An absolutely beautiful composition through and through. The riffs and melodies are so tight and well crafted, with soaring lyrics that pull the whole story together. When I first heard Across the Ancient Dessert, I stopped what I was doing and my heart skipped a beat. I think it encapsulated every emotion I had reading the Chain of Dogs for the first time. That series means something special to me. I was already loving the album, and this song sold me immediately. This is really worth a listen. kapman
